Abstract
When the patient who recovered spontaneous respiration caused hypoxia in the recovery unit, it is very important for clinicians to quickly find the cause and manage it. After a six-year old boy who got removing operation on fistula of tracheostomy repair site, he suffered from respiratory difficulty and hypoxia in the recovery unit. We gave him oxygen with mask and supported positive ventilation. However, subcutaneous emphysema gradually increased and tension pneumothorax was found on chest x-ray. He got chest tube insertion and was cared in intensive care unit for many days. Because the report on tension pneumothorax after implementing the closure of tracheostomy repair site is extremely rare, we are reporting literature review with this case.
